Recent figures reveal over 5,000 Irish children in emergency accommodation, a record high announced in late August 2025, while the state pours millions into expensive modular homes for Ukrainians and other migrants. This betrayal leaves Irish families on the streets, exposing deep systemic failures in child protection and housing.

Galway’s Missing Children Crisis Persists

From 2015 to July 2025, 1,148 children were reported missing to Galway Gardaí – two per week on average. In 2025 alone, 68 disappeared in County Galway, with most found quickly, but 22 cases remain active, Gardaí keep cases open until resolved, yet long-term mysteries linger. Aontú’s Luke Silke labeled the figures “extraordinary,” highlighting a rare glimpse into county-level data obtained via parliamentary question. Connacht Tribune

National Missing Children Figures Reveal Broader Failures

Nationally, 1,731 children went missing in 2023, rising to 8,154 child-related incidents in 2024.
